How our journey began

“In April of 2010 I was given the opportunity to join a team of missionaries in Haiti to assist in earthquake recovery efforts. As a person of Haitian descent, I was very proud to witness the efforts of the Haitian people in rebuilding their nation. I witnessed, as did the world, the outpouring of donations from around the globe to help Haiti rebuild. I realized, however, that as long as these donations went to NGOs instead of the Government of Haiti, lasting change would not occur. Corruption is presented as the reason Haiti’s government is bypassed in receiving financial assistance to fund its own recovery. To see Haiti’s advancement in the 21st century the problem of corruption must be tackled head on. A new crop of leaders equipped with the skills, integrity and resources to take Haiti from 3rd to 1st world status must be raised. Avanse Ayiti, aims to do just that. We believe that the same revolutionary effort that made Haiti the first post-colonial Black republic in 1804 is necessary to advance the nation in the 21st century and beyond. Recently, we have expanded our vision by offering our leadership program to the Haitian Diaspora, empowering Haitian owned businesses in the US with the tools they need to thrive and promoting Haitian products and culture wherever and however we can.”
